Criteria of service

 Quality of services

It´s important that everyone gets good service in social and health care. One criterion of good service is that the client receives the service they need at the right time and in the right place. Service should be client-centeredness, that is, we listen to the customer. We must act on the status and rights of patients as the law says (No. 785/1992). The law says that clients should treat with respect and observe clients ethnic and cultural background or mother tongue if it´s possible. If a client is a child, you have to consider other families too. Everyone who lives in Finland permanent is entitled to health and medical care. It is also important that the customer feels personally listened to and she gets treatment what she needs. Clients shall be given information about their state of health and various alternative forms of treatment and their effects. Professionals should give information in such a way that the patient can understand, interpretation should be provided if possible.

Clients rights

Clients have the right to self-determination. So, clients have the right to refuse treatment. Then clients will be treated using other justified alternatives acceptable, as far as possible. Often parents decide treatment if a client is a minor patient. But if it´s possible the opinion of a minor client should be assessed.

In social welfare clients have the right to hear her opportunity to participate in and influence the planning and implementation of their services. Matters must always be handled and resolved in the best interest of the customer. When you are working with a minor, the best interest of the minor should be a primary consideration.

If the client is not satisfied with their treatment have the right to submit a written objection to the director responsible. Clients can contact a Social and Patient Ombudsperson for advice if her or someone close to her has been mistreated in healthcare or social welfare or early childhood educating and care. A social and patient ombudsperson provides legal advice to clients in various situations. He advises how to make different kinds of objections, appeals, handling patient injury matters and claiming for damages etc. He informs the rights of clients and patients. Social and patient ombudspersons remain impartial, and their services are entirely free of charge.
